Niklas is the Austrian representative and is studying Analytical Chemistry and Food Chemistry at Graz University of Technology as part of Barbara Siegmunds group. Their research focuses on the influence of climate on the ripening of apple varieties. He combines analytical methods, like GC-MS, with sensory analysis to get a clearer picture of apples during their maturation. Next to this main topic, he is also part of smaller side projects within the field of natural products like i.e. honey.
As a committee representative they aim to understand the different fields of sensory science better, which are represented in the Next Generation Group. Being part of this group allows for deeper insights in fantastic studies as well as is facilitates networking with a broad range of international young researchers.
