MARS – Sensory Platform/Program Leader

Reporting to our Sensory Manager as Sensory Platform/Program Leader, your key responsibility will be to lead the Sensory & Consumer Science Team in driving global/regional/local R&D activities and innovation.  Deploying sensory knowledge and product evaluation strategies, you’ll work closely with colleagues from a wide range of departments globally, in addition to maintaining contacts with external agencies within the sensory and consumer science arena.  Developing strategies to identify step changes in consumer acceptance around perceived quality, value, pack and experience, you’ll translate the knowledge into actionable recommendations for business partners.  Other key accountabilities include:
·       leading Dove/Galaxy activities

·       coordinating the UK project portfolio

·       training and coaching local sensory scientists

·       building strong professional networks internally and externally

With a Master’s degree in a scientific discipline such as Food Science or Chemistry, underpinned by an additional sensory qualification or equivalent experience, you have a proven track record leading a complex R&D project portfolio.  Your sound practical grasp of statistics related to data-handling complements proficiency in the use of product evaluation techniques involving sensory evaluation and consumer responses.  Able to work independently in a multicultural, international organisation whilst creating collaborative relationships, you’re a strong all-round communicator and influencer, in English, at all levels, with a friendly, flexible approach.  Bringing your combination of gravitas, empathy and objectivity to the role, you’ll also offer:

·       comfort in communicating with virtual teams

·       the ability to co-ordinate the activities of colleagues at a more senior level

·       the flexibility to undertake significant overseas travel.
