Salary  £28695 to £37394 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

 

The Sensory Science Centre (SSC) is internationally renowned for both its sensory research and teaching, has state of the art facilities and maintains two expert panels for product assessment. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual to take on the varied and rewarding role of SSC Manager in a globally recognised and expanding group.

The Sensory Science Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of the facilities, panels and a part-time sensory technician.  In addition to supporting undergraduate, postgrad and postdoctoral researchers in their projects, the appointee would also be expected to carry out sensory research projects for Industry and/or research grants. The role also requires involvement in the delivery of practical classes across the taught sensory programmes within the School of Biosciences.

Candidates should have, OR be close to completing, a PhD in Sensory Science or a related subject OR considerable work experience in Sensory Science research, have experience organising running sensory investigations and have demonstrated potential for research of international quality.  A publication record and experience of teaching/training are also preferable. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, be self-motivating and be able to work as part of a team.

This is a full-time, permanent post available from 4th Jan 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter and is open to job share. Please specify in your application if you wish to work part-time and the number of preferred hours.
